Wotakoi Season 2 was originally a Romantic Comedy manga series written and illustrated by Fujita. The series are also known as Wotaku ni koi Wa Muzukashii in Japanese is a romantic or comedy anime series. It began serialization in 2014 and hasn’t stopped winning our hearts yet. The 10th volume has already been confirmed for 2021. Well, the 11 episodes long anime adaptation only covered the first 4 books of its web manga.

The eleven-part anime series Wotakoi: no Cheats for Love which ran on Japanese TV in the spring of 2018, was directed by Yoshimasa Hiraike, who also wrote the script in studio A-1 Pictures (“Sword Art Online: Progressive Movie 86 Anime”). Takahiro Yasuda contributed to the design of the characters, while Akimitsu Honma composed the music. Amazon Prime Video offers all episodes with subtitles on demand.

Though love for anime and manga has continued to rise, the most popular ones focus on teenage characters, particularly when it comes to slice-of-life series. Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku turns this idea on its head, featuring characters that are still highly relatable. The great news is that a Wotakoi OVA episode is being planned for February 26, 2021. Studio Lapintrack will be releasing the Wotakoi: Love Is Hard for Otaku OVA episode as part of a limited edition for manga volume 10.

The series follows a group of otaku working in an office. Narumi enjoys drawing and reading yaoi doujinshi. Her boyfriend, Hirotaka, is an avid gamer, and their relationship allows Narumi to be nerdy without fear of rejection. Hanako is a popular cosplayer known for her male characters, while her high school sweetheart, Kamakura, reads manga and watches anime whenever he has free time. Hirotaka’s younger brother. Nao, knows nothing about pop culture and sucks at gaming, but becomes more immersed in the hobby when he becomes friends with the reserved Kou.

Will there be a season 2 of Wotakoi?

A-1 Pictures, Amazon, or any related company has not yet renewed the series for a second season. Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku is one of 2018’s favorite anime, and the number of viewers waiting for season two is quite high due to its release on Amazon Videos. Productions can sometimes take years to renew. Many reasons such as financial calculations and source material adequacy may delay the approval of the new season of anime. Since there is no official announcement yet.

Another factor that increases the chances of the anime’s second season is additional productions or mobile games. Although Wotakoi does not have a smartphone game, It does have OVA episodes and a live-action movie. These additional productions show that the producers want to keep this brand on the agenda and still see it, profitable. We can say that the possibilities of season two have increased.

Wotakoi Gets Another OVA Episode

On the official Twitter account of Wotakoi: No Cheats for Love” it was announced that the series will soon receive a new OVA. The new OVA episode which will adapt the Employee Trip Times story from the sixth volume of Fujita’s Romance series will be released on October 14, 2021, together with the special edition of the eleventh and at the same time last manga volume in Japan. Studio Lapintrack is responsible for the production.

Wotakoi Season 2 Release Date

Unfortunately, there is no news concerning the anime’s second season. The series is available on Amazon Prime and has an exceptional rating after 451 reviews, giving it a 4.8 out of 5. According to Crunchyroll, over 10 million copies have been published both physically and digitally as of August 2020. If a second season does get announced, It won’t come as a surprise. However, given the pandemic and the time it takes to make anime, we might have to wait another year or two before seeing a on-screen.

A-1 Pictures has not officially confirmed Season 2, and It remains to be seen whether Season 2 is made at all. The fact that new volumes of the manga series are still being published increases the chance of a season 2 materializing. Our best guess is that Wotakoi Season 2 release date could fall sometime in 2023.

Wotakoi Season 2 Characters

As the series tends to focus on the six lead characters without introducing others into the otaku circle, it is likely there will not be any new additions to the cast. We can expect the voice actors from the last season to come back and lend their talents once more.

Such voice actors will include Arsia Date (Yui Yumekawa in “Idol Time PriPara) as Narumi Momose, Kent Ito (brief appearance as a police officer in the extended version of “Detective Conan” episode 1) as Hirokata Nifuji, Miyuki Sawashiro (“Kurapika in “Hunter x Hunter”) as Hanako Koyanagi, Tomokazu Sugita (Joseph Joestar in “JoJo's Bizarre Adventure”) as Taro Kabakua, Yuki Kaji (Shoto Todoroki in “My Herro Academia”) as Naoya Nifuji, and Aoi Yuki (Iris in “ Pokemon”) as Kou Sakuragi.

For those wondering if Wotakoi will be getting an English dub in the future, there hasn’t been anything concerning that yet. It would fall on Amazon to decide if this will happen as they have exclusive distribution rights in the U.S.

Wotakoi Season 2 Plot

It is highly likely a second season will start right where the last one left off. In one of the OVAs, Nao Finally learns that Kou is a girl, and though the realization comes with embarrassment on both sides, the two are able to reconcile and even go on a date that leaves them reflecting on their relationship.

Season One covered the manga’s first four volumes, and assuming the next season will have the same amount of episodes and ova, it is possible that volumes five through eight will be adapted. This means fans will get a hot springs episode, Narumi’s first attempt at cosplay. Nao and Kou’s blossoming relationship, and of course, the sweet moment when Kabakura proposes to Hanako after she misplaces her most cherished possession: the matching necklace he gave her back in high school. There is sure to be lots of nerdiness, plenty of misunderstandings, and most of all, love.

Wotakoi Action

Narumi is an office worker and a secret Yaoi fangirl. When she changes her profession, she meets her childhood friend, Hirotaka, who looks good but is a video game nerd. they decide to enter into a relationship, but since they are both nerds, a serious love affair is difficult.
