The Detective Is Already Dead Season 2 anime TV series is confirmed to be in production. The second season will have legendary detective sidekick (Kimi) Kimizuka Kimihiko and Nagisa Natsunagi jetting off to London in search of clues. But when will TanMoshi Season 2 come out?

On July 7, 2022, it was confirmed that the 5 main cast members of the anime TV series would appear at a stage event for MF Bunko J Summer Festival 2022 on July 24, 2022. The main staff or studio that is making TanMoshi Season 2 has not been announced yet.

For the first season, the anime project was helmed by first-time lead director Manabu Kurihara. In the past, he was a character designer for Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out! and Tokyo Ghoul: Pinto. He’s also been an episode animation director on Hellsing Ultimate and the Bleach anime series ( Bleach Season 17: Thousand-Year Blood War is confirmed to be in production).

Writer Hitomi Mieno handled the series composition. She’s best known for her work on the Noragami anime series.

As of July 2022, the series is scoring a slightly underwhelming rating of 5.8/10 on IMDB and 6.34/10 on MyAnimeList , with more than 114,000 reviews and 300,000 members. However, it is the franchise’s domestic success in Japan that was obviously enough for Studio ENGI to see the potential in renewing the series for a second season.

In the meantime, it’s possible to speculate about when the Tantei wa Mous, Shindeiru Season 2 premiere date will occur in the future. The Detective Is Already Dead Storyline

Kimizuka was forced onto an airplane by a group of unidentified men. While on the plane Kimizuka was greeted by Siesta. After the fight against Koumori the person who snatched the plane, Siesta asks Kimizuka to serve as her partner. Although he initially refuses following her persistent pleas and threatening intrusion into his home she finally convinced him to accept.

They set out together to defeat SPES the evil group which could ultimately destroy the human race. However, after three years of unsettling adventures, the time they spent together is over when Siesta abruptly passes away.

In a state of grief with the loss of his beloved and unable to get away from the memories of her. However, after a few years after his death, he is able to meet Natsunagi Nagisa, a high school student in search of a detective to assist her in finding the person.

She was seeking the person to who she was drawn due to an organ transplant from an unidentified donor. Then, it’s discovered that the donor is indeed Siesta. In the end, the person she is looking for was Kimizuka himself. In accepting the fact of the situation, he was delighted and emotional when he was capable of meeting Siesta once more. Then, he became the sidekick of Natsunagi and they began their way together.

FUNimation’s Simuldub scheduled for Summer 2021 initially only listed the TV show as a Simulcast. In October 2021, FUNimation announced the TanMoshi English dub cast:

What Can We Expect Season 2?

The first season ended with Kimizuka as well as Siesta fighting Chameleon together. Siesta recovered her soul away from Nagisa’s self. After the battle, she handed over the control of her body back to Nagisa. Finally, the show is concluded with them having a discussion in a bar discussing their future plans.

In the final credits, we glimpse a flashback of Siesta and Kimizuka in which she advises him to keep the names of the girls who wake him from rest. The girl’s name will eventually be Nagisa and it is the link that connects all of the season right from the beginning.

This could mean that there’s a backstory and a deeper relationship between Nagisa and Siesta that we’ll be able to witness in Season 2 and also some interesting romance between the two characters.

While The Detective Is Already Dead reviews in the West have been just average for a good anime, Japanese audiences are making their opinion known with book sales. According to the Oricon charts, the TanMoshi light novel series shot straight to the top of the charts at the beginning of July 2021, selling almost 20,000 copies in the second week. To put that number in perspective, the cumulative sales were a total of 100,000 copies in circulation back in June 2020.
