Ascendance of a Bookworm or Honzuki no Gekokujō: Shisho ni Naru Tame ni wa Shudan o Erandeiraremasen is an isekai fantasy show that revolves around Urano Motosu, a book lover who meets with an untimely death and is reincarnated as a five-year-old girl in medieval England. In her new world, books are a rare commodity, only available to the nobles. Urano vows that she will make them herself. Based on the novel series by Miya Kazuki, the anime was first released in Japan on October 3, 2019. The recent third season of the anime, like its previous installments, has been well-received by a lot of fans with many praising the superb animation.

The most recent episodes have received high accolades from critics for their engaging plot development. Because of this, it’s only natural that fans are eagerly awaiting the announcement of when the anime will return for a fourth season.

Since there are three more parts or over 500 chapters yet to be covered, the anime still has no dearth of source material for future installments. Furthermore, Ajia-do Animation Works is not officially committed to any show for 2023, so there is a good chance that the studio may end up giving a thumbs up for the upcoming season of Ascendance of a Bookworm.

It is impossible to predict a release date without confirmation of a season. If the program were to be picked up today, it would take around 18 months to complete all stages of production, putting the premiere towards the end of 2023 at the earliest.

Ascendance of a Bookworm Season 4 Plot

Following a disastrous encounter with a noble, Myne finally resolves to say goodbye to her family and friends in the lower city. She changes her name to “Rozemyne” and begins her new life as the adopted daughter of Ehrenfest’s archduke.

However, her days as an archnoble in noble society are brutal, as she is put through rigorous etiquette and magic training on top of her duties as High Bishop and forewoman. Her list of problems just keeps on growing since she needs to help prepare for events like the Harvest Festival, the baptism ceremony, and the Dedication Ritual.

On top of all those responsibilities, she has to take care of new orphans and deal with the dissatisfaction of a neighboring town. She even has her hands full teaching kids too young for the Royal Academy and even tutoring guard knights with bad grades!

It all proves too much for a weak little seven-year-old girl Or it would have, had the High Priest not offered her the keys to the temple’s book room as a reward. Encouraged by meetings with her lower city family and friends, she recharges by reading books in the temple!

Her name may have changed, but Rozemyne’s passion for books remains the same as she charges into the world of nobility. With the backing of the archduke, she’s now free to launch her Gutenberg printing industry.

But all these advances attract the wrong type of attention from the surrounding areas. Will Myne be able to survive the battles of winter, complete her new printing machine, and launch the start of the very first printing industry in this world?
